Tina Dabi IAS Controversy
In Barmer, Rajasthan, a controversy arose during a protest by college students over an increase in college fees. During the protest, police detained two ABVP student leaders, which later drew attention in the media.
According to the students, the detention happened after some protesters referred to District Collector Tina Dabi as a “reel star.” Some students claimed that the remark was not meant as an insult but was used to highlight what they described as a gap between social media activity and local issues.
After the detention, several students gathered at the police station and protested against the action taken by the police. They questioned why the detention happened after their protest had already ended.
Barmer Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh later met the students at the police station and tried to calm the situation.
